Caring for dying patients can be deeply rewarding, yet staying truly present as they struggle to find peace, meaning, and connection, can also pose an ongoing professional and personal challenge. We are called to bring our professional expertise and also our fullest possible self to the bedside.
Authentic presence -- how we are -- is central in the art of caring for a dying person. In our October intensive, you will experience and learn key practices and principles of the contemplative care approach. They will support you to access your inner resources of well-being and respond to patient’s needs and complex care situations with equanimity and increased confidence.
The contemplative care approach uses mindfulness and awareness-based methods to develop and sustain presence, resilience and compassion, and the practice of authentic listening and communication.
This training is designed for professionals, doulas and trained volunteers from all walks of life and backgrounds who serve seriously ill, elderly or dying patients in various care settings. It doesn’t require previous familiarity with mindfulness or meditation.
